Paphos?
Birthplace of Aphrodite and in Roman times the capital of Cyprus, Paphos
is situated on the southwest coast. Sheltered from the north by Troodos
mountains it has the healthiest year-round climate in the Mediterranean.
Paphos Harbour with its ancient castle is a yachting and water sports
centre and is lined with restaurants serving fresh fish and marine delicacies.
Nearby are several archaeological sites, rich with antiquities, providing
an interest away from the usual - in fact UNESCO has included Paphos in
its World Cultural Heritage list.
